Nova Contemporary is pleased to present Imagine the Ocean, Prae Pupityastaporn’s second solo exhibition. Pupityastaporn continues her lyrical and autobiographical approach to remembering, and to reconstructing memory. Her new series of paintings explores the idea of intimacy, and attempts to record the sensations evoked in a place infused with colours.
Pupityastaporn’s compositions display an eccentricity wherein she crops a corner of her mundane surroundings and expands it into whimsical inner landscapes. She abandons traditional ideas of pictorial structure, focusing instead on depicting her surroundings with a unique combination of memory, psychological insight, and poetic feelings.
