Khvay Samnang is a multidisciplinary artist, whose work spans video, performance, sculpture and installation. His practice is largely concerned with the human and ecological impacts of colonialism and globalization. The development of each body of work is based on thorough research and investigation of local specificities, structures and conditions. He is one of the founding members of Stiev Selapak, which established and operated SA SA BASSAC and SA SA Art Projects, one of the most significant spaces for contemporary art in Cambodia. His recent solo exhibitions include Capsule 10: Khvay Samnang, Haus der Kunst, Munich, Germany (2019); Bloom Projects Exchange Series, Museum of Contemporary Art, Santa Barbara, USA (2016); and Rubber Man, Jeu de Paume, Paris, CAPC Bordeaux, France (2015). He has participated in Post Nature (Taipei Biennial 2018), Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei, Taiwan; Biennale of Sydney, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia (2018); DOCUMENTA 14, Athens, Greece / Kassel, Germany (2017) and People, Money, Ghosts, Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok (2017) among others.
