Nova Contemporary is pleased to invite you to the closing event for The Comet and the Nostalgic Souls, a sound performance, the Spiritual Ward, by XOH, Kritsada Phonchai. The event will take place on Saturday, April 8th 2023 from 16:00-18:00. Inspired by the Lum Phi Fa ritual from Isan, the Northeast region of Thailand, Spiritual Ward borrows ceremonial sound elements to create therapeutic soundscapes. The age-old ritual was formerly performed to worship spirits, and was believed to harness the power of musical equipment alongside traditional dance and herbal consumption to treat mental and physical illnesses. Spiritual Ward demonstrates and combines sounds of the past and the present in digital format, manifesting perceptions through a fluid auditory medium, and drawing the audience towards deep introspection.
โนวา คอนเทมโพรารี ขอเชิญชวนทุกท่านร่วมอีเวนต์ปิดนิทรรศการ The Comet and the Nostalgic Souls, และรับชมการแสดง sound performance ในชุด Spiritual Ward โดย XOH, Kritsada Phonchai ในวันเสาร์ที่ 8 เมษายน 2566 เวลา 16:00 - 18:00 น. การแสดงชุดนี้นำเสนอการทำเสียงบำบัดที่อิงกับพิธีกรรมลำผีฟ้าที่พบเห็นทางภาคอีสาน โดยจำลองเสียงองค์ประกอบของพิธีกรรมสร้างขึ้นเป็นภูมิทัศน์ใหม่ทางเสียง แต่เดิมนั้น พิธีกรรมลำผีฟ้ามีรากมาจากการลำบูชาผีเพื่อรักษาอาการเจ็บป่วยโดยใช้เครื่องดนตรี การฟ้อน-ลำ รวมถึงการรับสมุนไพรบางชนิดเข้าสู่ร่างกาย ซึ่งถูกเชื่อว่าเป็นการรักษาผู้ป่วยทางด้านจิตวิญญาณ Spiritual Ward ได้จำลองเสียงของปัจจุบันและอดีต ปะติดปะตอเข้าด้วยกันผ่านเสียงในรูปแบบดิจิตอล ด้วยการรับรู้และตีความรหัสทางสายตา สู่การระบายออกเป็นเสียง ซึ่งจะพาผู้ฟังสำรวจดำดิ่งเข้าไปภายในจิตวิญญาณของตนเอง
