CHETSADA PHUWIANG AT RATS

Nova Contemporary is pleased to present Chetsada Phuwiang’s first solo exhibition at RATS, in collaboration with TARS Unlimited. The show is on view from 9 April to 9 May, 2024.

Phuwiang’s paintings pulsate in rhythmic release, immersing viewers in scenes of the euphoric and electric. Giving vague impressions of movement and touch, his works reimagine the haptic through experiments with light, colour, and texture. Phuwiang draws from his own queer sensuality, revealing the intimate, clandestine, and pleasurable.

Chetsada Phuwiang (b. 2001, Suphan Buri, Thailand) employs the innovative mediums of sand and airbrush painting, he creates vibrant abstractions of haptic experience. Through images of fleeting physicality, his works engage with dialogues around queer sensuality and sexuality. He explores the tensions surrounding intimacy and belonging, dissolving the boundaries between bodies and bodies in space.

นิทรรศการเดี่ยวครั้งนี้ของเขาจะพาออกสำรวจ พร้อมชวนสนทนาท่ามกลางสภาพอากาศอันร้อนฉ่าช่วงกลางฤดูร้อนของประเทศไทย ด้วยภาพผลงานที่ระอุเร่าร้อนไม่แพ้กัน จากห้วงกามารมณ์ เฉดแสง และสีสันที่ทั้งหม่นและฉูดฉาดอย่างพิลึก ร่วมไปกับพื้นที่ บรรรยากาศ อีกทั้งผืนผนังอันเปลือยเปล่า ซึ่งเผยทั้งโครงสร้างภายใน และคราบแปดเปื้อนจากเศษซากสิ่งตกค้างของบางสิ่งบางอย่าง ที่จะมากระเซ้าเย้าแหย่ ยียวน และขับน้ำเหงื่อไคลให้ได้ไหลเยิ้ม

เจษฎา ภูเวียง (เกิดปี 2001, สุพรรณบุรี, ประเทศไทย) ใช้เทคนิคการพ่นทรายและแอร์บรัชสีลงบนผืนผ้าใบ สร้างสรรค์เป็นภาพนามธรรมสีสดใสของเรื่องราวประสบการณ์จากการสัมผัสลูบไล้ ทอดผ่านภาพผิวเรือนร่างที่เลือนลางหายไปอย่างฉับพลัน ทั้งผูกร้อยพร้อมกับบทสนทนาด้วยเรื่องกามารมณ์และกามกิจของความรักที่ไม่จำกัดเพศ ขณะเดียวกันนั้น เขายังพินิจสำรวจถึงจุดอิ่มตัวของสภาวะสัมพันธ์อันใกล้ชิดและการแสดงความเป็นเจ้าของ ทั้งยังต้องการทลายพรมแดนระหว่างเรือนร่าง และร่างกายในพื้นที่นั้น ๆ ลงไปอีกด้วย
